NTS Preparation Strategy — Score 75+ in 8 Weeks
A structured 8-week plan that’s worked for thousands of QuizWing users.
Week 1 — Diagnostic Test
Attempt a full past paper under 120-minute timed conditions. Don’t review the syllabus yet — see where you actually stand. Score each section separately.
Weeks 2–3 — English + Analytical
Build your vocabulary (200 new words) and drill grammar. Start logical reasoning puzzles daily — pattern-recognition gets much faster with practice.
Weeks 4–5 — Quantitative
Cover arithmetic, algebra, geometry & data interpretation. Speed matters — most questions are solvable in under 70 seconds with shortcut tricks.
Week 6 — Subject Section
Revise your NAT subject section (Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Maths / Accounting …) from FSc-level textbooks. Focus on MCQ-style questions rather than long numericals.
Week 7 — Mock Tests
Attempt 3 full-length mocks. After each mock, spend 2× the time reviewing wrong answers than attempting them. Your weakest topics will reveal themselves.
Week 8 — Revision + Rest
Light revision only — no new topics. Sleep well, eat healthy, avoid last-minute cramming. The day before the test, just relax and visualise your centre journey.
Three things every NTS topper does
1. Solves at least 10 past papers before the real test. 2. Maintains a mistake notebook — writes down every wrong MCQ with the correct reasoning. 3. Skips blind guesses — negative marking wipes out easy gains.
NTS Job Tests 2026 — Recruitment Screening
NTS conducts screening tests for federal, provincial and public-sector organisations across Pakistan.
Federal Government Departments
Ministry screening tests — candidates apply through the advertisement and sit the NTS test on the assigned date.
Public-Sector Banks
NBP, HBL, Bank of Punjab, SME Bank and others use NTS for cash officer, OG-III and management trainee roles.
School & College Teachers
Provincial education departments use NTS for SST, ESE, SESE and Elementary School Teacher recruitment.
Armed-Forces Civilian Jobs
Civilian support positions in Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force — clerical, technical and administrative.
FBR, HEC, NADRA, SBP
Regulatory bodies and autonomous institutions use NTS for officer-level and research positions.
WAPDA, PTCL, Railways
Public utilities and transport organisations use NTS for engineer, inspector, and technical cadre posts.
Frequently Asked Questions — NTS 2026
Common questions about NAT, GAT, registration, result validity and more.
What is the full form of NTS?
NTS stands for National Testing Service — Pakistan’s public-sector, ISO-certified testing institution that conducts standardised tests for university admissions, HEC scholarships, and government-job recruitment.
What is the difference between NAT and GAT?
NAT (National Aptitude Test) is for undergraduate admissions — BS programs after FSc. GAT (Graduate Assessment Test) is for graduate admissions — MS, MPhil and PhD programs after a Bachelor’s degree.
How many times is NAT conducted in a year?
NAT is conducted 12 times a year — roughly one test every month. You can sit as many times as you want within a year — universities use the highest score.
How long is the NTS NAT result valid?
NAT result is valid for 1 year from the date of the test. GAT General result is valid for 2 years.
Is there negative marking in NTS NAT?
Yes — 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer on NAT. Unattempted questions carry no penalty. There is no negative marking on GAT General.
What is the registration fee for NTS NAT?
NAT fee is Rs. 700 per test for all six NAT categories. GAT General fee is Rs. 1,200. You pay via bank voucher at HBL, UBL, MCB, ABL, or Allied Bank.

Yes — NTS allows candidates who have passed Part I (first year) of Intermediate to appear in NAT. However, universities usually require the final Intermediate certificate during admission.
Is NTS NAT accepted by the UET or NUST?
No — UET admissions require the ECAT, and NUST has its own NET (NUST Entry Test). NAT is accepted by 50+ NTS-affiliated universities (COMSATS, IIUI, Bahria, IST, etc.).
How many times can I attempt the NAT?
There’s no limit. You can sit NAT as many times as you want within a year. Universities use the highest score from your valid result slips.
What is NTS HAT?
HAT (HEC Aptitude Test) is the scholarship test conducted by NTS on behalf of the Higher Education Commission for MS / MPhil / PhD scholarships — both overseas and local programs.
What is NTS GAT Subject?
GAT Subject is a subject-specific test for PhD scholarship applicants. It tests advanced knowledge of the candidate’s chosen discipline (Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Business Administration, etc.).
Can I get my NTS answer script re-checked?
Yes — re-checking / re-evaluation can be requested within 7 days of result publication. A fee applies, and only clerical errors are re-verified (not your answer choices).
How early should I register for NTS?
Register as early as possible — popular test cities (Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi) fill fast. NTS usually opens registration ~30 days before the test and closes ~7 days before.
Do I need a separate NTS account for each test?
No — one NTS portal account (portal.nts.org.pk) lets you apply for multiple tests (NAT, GAT, HAT, jobs). Your applications and payment history are all tracked in one place.
Is there any age limit for NTS NAT?
There is no age limit set by NTS. However, individual universities often have their own age bar for admissions (commonly 22–25 years for BS programs).
What is the best book for NTS NAT preparation?
The NTS official NAT guide published by the National Testing Service is the most reliable. Supplement with FSc textbooks, Dogar’s NTS NAT book, and solve QuizWing’s free MCQ practice above.
How do I prepare for NTS Analytical Reasoning?
Practice seating arrangement, blood-relation puzzles, coding-decoding, and statement-conclusion questions daily. Solve past papers and time yourself — most analytical MCQs should take ~60 seconds each.
Can I use a calculator during the NTS test?
No — calculators, mobile phones, smart watches and any digital device are strictly banned. Arithmetic on the NAT is designed for manual mental calculation.
What happens if I miss the NTS test date?
If you skip the test, your fee is forfeited — no refund is given. You’ll have to register and pay again for the next scheduled NAT or GAT.
Does NTS conduct tests for BISE / Matric boards?
No — NTS is not a board examination body. Matric and Intermediate exams are conducted by provincial BISEs. NTS handles entry-level aptitude and recruitment tests only.
Can I reschedule my NTS test date?
Once registered for a specific test project, the date cannot be rescheduled. You can choose a later NAT project and pay again, or skip this one and apply for the next.

Helpline: 051-844-9999 · Email: info@nts.org.pk · Address: NTS Headquarters, Plot 96, Street 4, H-8/1, Islamabad. Response time is typically 1–3 working days.
