NTS Test 2026 — Complete Guide: NAT, GAT, Registration, Roll No Slip, Result & MCQ Practice

NTS stands for National Testing Service — Pakistan’s public-sector, ISO-certified testing institution that conducts standardised tests for university admissions, HEC scholarships, and government-job recruitment.

NAT (National Aptitude Test) is for undergraduate admissions — BS programs after FSc. GAT (Graduate Assessment Test) is for graduate admissions — MS, MPhil and PhD programs after a Bachelor’s degree.

NAT is conducted 12 times a year — roughly one test every month. You can sit as many times as you want within a year — universities use the highest score.

NAT result is valid for 1 year from the date of the test. GAT General result is valid for 2 years.

Yes — 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer on NAT. Unattempted questions carry no penalty. There is no negative marking on GAT General.

NAT fee is Rs. 700 per test for all six NAT categories. GAT General fee is Rs. 1,200. You pay via bank voucher at HBL, UBL, MCB, ABL, or Allied Bank.

Visit nts.org.pk → Roll No Slip → choose the test project → enter your CNIC → download the PDF. The slip is released 7–10 days before the test.

Generally no — city selection is locked after the registration deadline. In rare cases, NTS allows a city change before the deadline with a formal request email to info@nts.org.pk.

GAT General has 100 MCQs: 30 Verbal (English), 30 Quantitative and 40 Analytical. Time is 120 minutes. No negative marking.

Yes — NTS allows candidates who have passed Part I (first year) of Intermediate to appear in NAT. However, universities usually require the final Intermediate certificate during admission.

No — UET admissions require the ECAT, and NUST has its own NET (NUST Entry Test). NAT is accepted by 50+ NTS-affiliated universities (COMSATS, IIUI, Bahria, IST, etc.).

HAT (HEC Aptitude Test) is the scholarship test conducted by NTS on behalf of the Higher Education Commission for MS / MPhil / PhD scholarships — both overseas and local programs.

Once registered for a specific test project, the date cannot be rescheduled. You can choose a later NAT project and pay again, or skip this one and apply for the next.
